Annual Bibliography of English Language and Literature is a standard reference work for English studies. ABELL lists monographs, periodical articles, critical editions of literary works, book reviews, collections of essays and doctoral dissertations published anywhere in the world. It has been printed since 1921 and is compiled under the direction of the Modern Humanities Research Association (MHRA). British, American, and Commonwealth writing are all represented, and coverage is international, including articles in languages other than English.
