This database was developed by the Department of Energy's Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI), in collaboration with DOD/DTIC, NASA, and EPADeveloped by the Department of Energy's Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI), in collaboration with DOD/DTIC, NASA, and EPA. It contains full text technical reports of federally funded research from those agencies. The U.S. Interagency Gray Literature Working Group, "Gray Information Functional Plan," 18 January 1995, defines gray literature as "foreign or domestic open source material that usually is available through specialized channels and may not enter normal channels or systems of publication, distribution, bibliographic control, or acquisition by booksellers or subscription agents." In other words, this is one of the few places you'll be able to get access to these public domain documents. If you need to do some IN DEPTH research in Engineering, Environmental issues, Energy, Aerospace, or Defense Technology, you would be remiss not to search this database. However, if you are looking for material of a more popular nature, don't bother.
