First let me insert two important warnings. 1. You can end up in the Wiley InterScience databases of which the Cochrane Library is only a part if you aren’t careful. We don’t subscribe to the entire set of databases although many of the journals therein are available electronically. 2. This database is English, not American, which you should realise can colour the spelling.

The Cochrane Library is a unique source of reliable and up-to-date information on the effects of interventions in health care.This database gives reviews on the use, side effects, clinical trials, and administration of drugs to name just a few things. It also can be searched by topics such as a specific disease such as HIV/AIDS or a specific site for a disease such as skin. Check out their homepage before getting into it too far. You can think of this database as a gigantic electronic journal, but remember that it is NOT an index to other periodicals, so don’t forget to check other databases as well.
