Polices and Procedures

Interlibrary Loan allows for the borrowing and lending of books and other materials between libraries. At Heterick Memorial Library, this service is free for faculty, staff and students at Ohio Northern University. Community users should contact their local public libraries for interlibrary loan requests.

Requesting Books

1. Check the Heterick Library Catalog. If the book is not available at Ohio Northern University, click on the OhioLINK button at the top of the page. If an OhioLINK library owns the book you are looking for, please request the book through OhioLINK. The book will be delivered in approximately 4-5 days. You will receive an email when it arrives and it will be available for pick-up at the Circulation Desk.
2. If the book is not available at Ohio Northern or through OhioLINK, please fill out the Interlibrary loan request form for books. Your request will arrive in approximately 7-10 days and may be picked up at the Circulation Desk. You will receive an email when it arrives.

Requesting Journal Articles

1. Check the Heterick Library Catalog. If the journal you are looking for is not available electronically or in print at Ohio Northern University, please fill out the interlibrary loan request form for articles. Please be sure to fill in all of the citation information.
2. The article will be emailed to you within 3-4 days.

Copyright Statement

Under certain conditions specified in the United States Copyright law (Title 17, United States Code) libraries and archives may be authorized to furnish a photocopy or reproduction. One of the conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction may not be used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship or research and that only one copy can be provided for scholarly purposes, unless copyright fees are paid.
